The American Gunsmithing Institute is an approved postsecondary school that exists to provide firearm enthusiasts with the knowledge needed to keep their guns in safe and top-notch condition, maximizing their shooting experience and potential in a way that preserves the Gunsmithing art and ensures “that the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.”
AGI also offers non-certified courses that teach repair and customization of many firearms. Courses offered instruct in disassembly/reassembly, troubleshooting, relining barrels, gun cleaning, and how-to courses covering many different techniques. Recently, we have created even more new courses, such as Law Enforcement Armorers, Certified Firearms Appraiser, and more.
Other subjects available include courses designed to maximize the precision and performance of shooting and hunting techniques, including but not limited to long range, Cowboy Action, instinctive shooting, and more.

Gene Kelly, President
Cheri is the Senior Student Advisor here at AGI. She has been with the company for over 16 years and brings a level of expertise and knowledge about the school and the courses second only to Gene. Consequently, she is much in demand and spends all day on the phone taking care of her students and talking to prospective students who call from all over the country. Cheri is also responsible for the students working through the Veterans administration. Any Veterans with service-related disability ratings of 30% or more may qualify for our course through Chapter 31 – Vocational Rehabilitation Department. Cheri has 8 years of experience working within the VA system and has a great rapport with many of the VA Services Officers.
A sales and marketing consultant for over 30 years, Steve enjoys the position of student advisor at AGI because it gives him the opportunity to help people interested in the programs take control of their own financial future. When he’s not advising potential students he spends his free time moonlighting as country singer Bubba Stevens, his motto is “if it ain’t country, you ain’t doin’ it right.”
Kevin comes to AGI with years of experience in the financial securities industry. Kevin’s years of sales experience is applied daily working now as a student advisor. He is always looking for the best solution for the prospective student’s needs. In his free time, Kevin enjoys chasing eagles and birdies on the golf course.
